Came here to meet up with a friend who lives down here in DC. When I looked at the pictures, I thought it would be boring and wanted to choose another place, but it actually turned out pretty well. It was relatively empty upstairs because the NBA Finals game had not started yet, but it picked up shortly thereafter. They have two large couches, which allowed us both to be comfortable, but also watch the game. The music wasn't too loud and we could hear each other. The food was okay-- I would say I've had better Mac n Cheese, but it was cool. My friend enjoyed her sandwich, my other friend opted not to eat. What I found to be a nice touch was they offered the option for each person to pay their own tab, which I found out, at the end, when my friend and I went to close out the tab.
Lola's was the first bar I've ever wanted to be a regular at and I've been coming a lot over the past couple of years. To me, it's the perfect place to hang out because it has a classy vibe but is still very relaxed and fun. The bartenders always make sure you have a good time, whether you're a regular or there for your first time, and I always recognize that because I don't like places that treat their regulars different/better than new folks. The only time I've ever run into service issues have been when there are stand-in bartenders filling in for someone (usually trying to figure out the POS), but overwhelmingly I've always had excellent service. Upstairs has comfy couches, there are two patios for smokers, and free pool tables on the top floor. The vibe here is just right and it's a great place for a chill night out or to bring a date. While I would welcome some menu changes, their food is good. The wings are a great choice. I've also had the lamb chops which were very tender/perfect medium rare and their chili is great on a cold night. My go-to comfort food there is the macaroni and cheese with pulled pork.
Me and my wife went to Lola's recently after spending a day in Capital Hill going to Eastern Market. We went to Lola's to get a quick drink and ended up spending some time there. We got drinks, wings, mac and cheese and it was delicious. The host was very accommodating. This bar is a lot bigger than what it looks like from the front. They have a pool table on the top floor and another bar on the middle floor. I plan to go back soon. Love this place.
Smaller crowded place with a very lively atmosphere. I have been coming here's for years they have a new staff now which is good. The new bar manager is very welcome. Service was actually really good for the crowded with was. I have zero complaints other. Surely would go back some other time.
Great little bar with super nice bartenders! We popped in here before (and after!) dinner nearby and had some great cocktails. Nice selection of spirits and beer. My bourbon/maple/cinnamon drink was lovely!!
